Welcome back, women. The youngest generation for sure do not know me, so I want to explain the reason of this column. It was year 1997 when an idea flashed through my mind: any sport to be well acknowledged needs to be practised by both sexes, so I decided to organize a world meeting reserved to the weak sex. Having already involved in this market due to the publication of some books and consequently having collected many addresses of people in any countries where Trials was known, it was quite easy to spread the news all over out world. The venue chosen was Torre Pellice, little town, 50 km south-west of Turin, where i live. Being in the past famous to host the first Italian world round in 1975, we did not have any problem to find a loop up to the mountains where to fit twelve sections , each of them with inside two levels of difficulty. And the riders? They came ! From Norway the largest number thanks to my friend Maarten Mager, who carried out a great job in developing the sport among new generations. During my travels to follow the World Championship, I also met American Laura Bussing, who came and contributed a lot to promote Trials in USA, having successful an year later in founding a new class in the American Championship and also in having found other girls and money to come to Torre Pellice for the second edition! Yes, in 1998 ,in 1999 and in 2000 ,we repeated this unusual event, convincing the FIM to take in serious consideration this part of enthusiasts. So I beg your pardon if I claim to be one of the fathers of the spread of this discipline into the female world.
Imagine what a great pleasure, the next 2nd of October to organize again this meeting, under the official acknowledgement to be a Women World round. But on this event there is an other web site still under constructions (www.mc-alpiovest.com) which will give you any details.

Ben tornate, donne. La nuova generazione di sicuro non mi conosce, dunque voglio spiegare le ragioni di questa rubrica. Eravamo nel 1997, quando mi balenò nella mente un' idea: ogni sport per essere giustamente riconosciuto deve poter venir praticato da ambo i sessi, così decidetti di organizzare un incontro mondiale riservato al sesso debole. Essendo già introdotto in questo campo, grazie alla pubblicazione di alcuni libri e ,di conseguenza, avendo a disposizione diversi nominativi di appassionati di altri Paesi dove il Trial veniva praticato, mi è stato abbastanza facile diffondere la notizia in giro per il mondo. Il posto scelto è stato Torre Pellice, dove risiedo, un paese a 50 km sud-ovest di Torino. Essendo un posto famoso nel passato per aver ospitato il primo mondiale italiano nel 1975, non è stato difficile trovare un trasferimento montano adatto, con 12 zone suddivise ognuna in due livelli di difficoltà. E le pilotesse? Sono venute! Alla Norvegia il primato del maggior numero, grazie all'amico Maarten Mager, che già allora svolgeva un gran lavoro nello sviluppo dello sport fra i giovani. Durante le mie trasferte mondiali, avevo anche conosciuto l'americana Laura Bussing che non solo prese parte, ma contribuì alla promozione negli USA, facendo istituire un campionato nazionale apposito e riuscendo a portare altre ragazze alla seconda edizione! Ebbene sì, abbiamo ripetuto, nel 1998, 1999 e 2000 questo evento originale, convincendo la FIM a prendere in seria considerazione questa fetta di appassionate. Così perdonatemi se mi considero uno dei padri divulgatori di questa disciplina nel mondo femminile.
Immaginate dunque il mio immenso piacere nel sapere di poter organizzare nuovamente questo incontro , sotto il riconoscimento ufficiale di prova del Campionato del Mondo Femminile il prossimo 2 ottobre.
