22/04/17, Zelhem, Holland - Emma Bristow (Sherco) and Oliver Smith (Gas Gas) on the top of first podiums!

World champion Emma Bristow (Sherco) and Oliver Smith (Gas Gas) are the first winners in respectively Women and Youth class of the FIM-Europe Trials Championship, 26th edition, held in Zelhem, the Netherlands.

First day of a week-end rich of enthusiasm for this opening round, disputed in a close area full of spectacular rocks, obstacles requested by modern trial. And who could be more modern , but the youngest riders admitted in these International series with the best female riders in the world? Yes, this time the two-time world champion, British Emma Bristow decided to join the circus. Her riding is one step above all the others, but she wanted to test her mind, probably before going to the Scottish Six Days next week. Loosing just 1 point in the whole competition, she assured herself the first position. Probably not happy to see her, number one in European Champ in the last 2 years, German Theresa Bauml, today reached only the second place, having scored 8 and 4 points in the two laps, with 14 sections of this competition. There were 2 sections more respect the past due to a change (the only one) in the 2017 rule. On third step of podium but quite distant from the first twos, Norwegian Ingveig Hakonsen (Beta).

In the Youth class, British Oliver Smith (Gas Gas) gained his first success, thanks to a very good second loop. Indeed at the turning point the situation was very uncertain. Smith was leading with 27 points, but behind him, 3 riders scored 2 points more: they were Linus Almthen (Scorpa), Florian Ruedi (Beta) and Mats Nilsen (Sherco). In the second lap, Smith improved a lot his score: just 16 mistakes. His rivals scored almost the same points of their first lap and finished in the same order.

In International classes, the ones whose riders don't take points for the championship and their level is one step lower in both Women and Youth categories, there were other two clear wins. Between the women Dutch Chantal De Raaff (Sherco) rode a superlative second loop and outdistanced British Olivia Brooksbank (Gas Gas) who scored the same points in first loop. In third French Lenna Volpe (Sherco).

Moritz Rau (Beta) topped a German podium in the Youth International. Second Joscka Kraft (Beta) ahead of Cuba Smith (Beta). .

Vincono subito la campionessa del mondo Emma Bristow e l'inglese Olivier Smith

La campionessa del mondo Emma Bristow (Sherco) e l'inglese Oliver Smith (Gas Gas) sono i primi vincitori della classe Women e Youth, rispettivamente, del campionato FIM-Europe, 26° edizione, disputato a Zelhem, nei Paesi Bassi.

Per la Bristow , uno scalino sopra tutte le altre, un ottimo allenamento nell'ottica di tenere alta la concentrazione per la sua partecipazione tra una settimana alla Scottish. In tutta la gara di 2 giri con 14 zone ciascuno ha lasciato un solo piede. Non sarà stata tanto contenta la campionessa europea delle due ultime edizioni, la tedesca Theresa Bauml, oggi seconda con i parziali di 8 e 4 punti. Terza ma decisamente staccata la norvegese Ingveig Hakonsen (Beta). Assente la nostra numero uno, che intende focalizzarsi solo sul mondiale, in gara vi erano due azzurre. Bene Alex Brancati (Beta) al sesto posto. Un po' emozionata perchè alla sua prima gara all'estero, Martina Gallieni (TRS) ha invece chiuso in 17° posizione.

Nella classe Youth Smith, (Gas Gas) si è guadagnato la prima vittoria grazie ad un ottimo secondo giro. Infatti al giro di boa, la lotta era molto aperta. Smith era in testa con 27 punti, ma lo seguivano con 2 punti in più tre piloti: Linus Almthen (Scorpa), Florian Ruedi (Beta) e Mats Nilsen (Sherco). Nel secondo giro Smith migliorava tantissimo: solo 16 errori. I suoi avversari giravano più o meno con gli stessi punteggi e finivano nel medesimo ordine.

Nelle classi Internazionali sia nella Women che nella Youth altre due affermazioni nette. Tra le donne è stata l'olandese Chantal De Raaff (Sherco) con un secondo giro superlativo a distanziare l'inglese Olivia Brooksbank (Gas Gas) che l'appaiava alla fine della prima tornata. Terza la francese French Lenna Volpe (Sherco). Moritz Rau (Beta) ha svettato su un podio tutto tedesco nella Youth . Secondo Joscka Kraft (Beta) davanti a Cuba Smith (Beta).
